Teaching aims:
1. Know the rules and disciplines of this term and arrange the sequence of the duty report
2. Talk about countries and cities
3. Sentence structures: Where questions with from and live
Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Greetings
T: Good morning, guys! How are you?
T: Some say fine and some say so-so. Anyway I think you all had a very good rest during your winter vacation and you are very happy to be here because you can play with your friends, aren’t you?
T: Since we embrace the New Year and a new term, so we should have some new rules and disciplines.
1.No Chinese. Well, you only have forty minutes a day to practice your oral English. So I hope you can catch opportunity to practice your spoken English. If you speak Chinese, your group will lose 2 points. Do you understand?
2.Make a duty report every day. From this term on, we are going to have a duty report. I’d like each of you to talk about one person. You can introduce your classmates whoever you want. You can talk about your favorite movie stars, singers, basketball plays and so on. You can talk about his/her age, date of birth, what he/she likes or dislikes. Use whatever we have learned to introduce one person. At the beginning of your report, you may ask your classmates questions as: what’s the date today, what day is it today? Let’s start from Bowie. Bowie, are you OK? The rest of you come to my office after class to make sure when you will have your duty report.
3. Show respects to others. When one is talking, please listen carefully. And if you find any mistakes in their speaking, please wait until he/she finishes his/her talking and then raise your hand to help him/her correct his/her mistakes. You may correct them like this: A should be B. If you correct his/her mistakes, I’ll add one point to your own and at the end of this term we’ll see who is the King of correcting mistakes.
4. Please prepare for at least five books, two note books and three exercise books. One note book is for your notes and the other for your correcting your mistakes that happened in your test, A B workbook or newspaper. One exercise book is for your dictation, and other two for your copy.
5. Listen to the tape. From this term, I hope each of you can bring a repeat recorder. And I hope every one of you can listen to the tape for at least 20-30 min, not only listen but also read after the tape. Please try to imitate the pronunciation and intonation.
Step 2: Prsentation
T: Please remember these five rules and obey them. That’s all for the disciplines. Let’s come to our text books.
T: Could you tell me what did you do during your winter vacation apart from eating sleeping and doing your homework?
T: Have you watched the Winter Olympic Games?
T: Where is the Winter Olympic Games held? Yes, it’s in Turin.
T: Where is Turin? It’s in Italy. Can you help me spell the word?
T: Do you want to go there to watch the games?
T: But it’s a pity. You cannot go there because you don’t have time. But you can go there during your summer holiday. I’d like to introduce more
